Other Legislative and Administrative Advocacy

CLE engages in limited direct representation for individual students on impact cases. It also has led administrative advocacy on issues affecting clients statewide, including a federal and state challenge to DESE’s request to exceed the cap on students with disabilities participating in the MCAS-Alt; comments to DESE on the ACCESS-Alt and exiting students from English as a second language services (2022, 2023); and comments to DESE supporting decoupling the MCAS from a high school diploma and making recommendations for monitoring districts’ graduation requirements (2024, 2025).
