Legal Director
As Legal Director, Sky Kochenour has extensive experience providing statewide support and assistance to legal services attorneys. He has represented students on school discipline, special education, and broader education issues, filed amicus briefs before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and in federal district court, worked directly with legislators to advance policy initiatives, and challenged discrimination on the basis of race, disability, and language status through the United States Department of Education Office for Civil Rights. Sky has particular interests in career and technical education, multilingual learners with disabilities, and high-stakes educational decisions such as assigning students to take alternate assessments aligned to alternate academic achievement standards.
